Some goods are: iron and glass which were needed for buildings. Before canals, big sheets of glass can't be transported because they could break easily on the road. Buildings before 1800 had smaller windows. Ice were cut from pounds and were very popular in the summer. Farm goods, tools, coal and other items were also transported through the canals.
